Preview on YouTube 📅 iCal

Huamantla, Tlaxcala · Night of Aug 15 into dawn Aug 16 · Free · Drive ~1h 45min

The entire town stays up all night laying enormous colored sawdust tapetes (carpets) along the main streets for the Virgen de la Caridad procession at dawn. Families, community groups and artisans work through the night — you can walk among them as they create. At daybreak the procession walks directly over the tapetes and they're gone within minutes. The Huamantlada street bull run follows at noon Aug 16. Stay the night of Aug 14 for the Corrida de las Luces and experience all three events in one 36-hour window.
